Glossary Check: Va. ‘Ground Rules’

Richmond, VA (WorkersCompensation.com) -- When most of the population uses "ground rules," they're probably referring to a game, competition, or terms of engagement in some way.

However, when the workers' compensation community in Virginia uses the term, it something to do with fee schedules.

Here's what "grounds rules" means in the Old Dominion:

(1) For medical services rendered during the period from Jan. 1, 2018, through Dec. 31, 2019, "ground rules" means the 2018 Medical Fee Schedule Ground Rules adopted by the commission on June 13, 2017, and revised on July 18, 2019.

(2) For medical services rendered during the period from Jan. 1, 2020, through Dec. 31, 2021, "ground rules" means the 2020 Medical Fee Schedule Ground Rules adopted by the commission on July 18, 2019, and revised on Oct. 17, 2019.

(3) For medical services rendered during the period from Jan. 1, 2022, through Dec. 31, 2023, "ground rules" means the 2022 Medical Fee Schedule Ground Rules adopted by the commission on June 29, 2021.

(4) For medical services rendered during the period from Jan. 1, 2024, through Dec. 31, 2025, "ground rules" means the 2024 Medical Fee Schedule Ground Rules adopted by the commission on Aug. 17, 2023.
