The Case Manager
Recently, I received a call from a longtime friend and nurse case manager colleague, who said she has been thinking about me and wanted to reach out to see how I have been. We had a nice chat, caught up, and promised to stay in touch.
As I sat there after the call, I thought the call was a gentle reminder to me that relationships are the treasures that we have to rekindle by stopping what we are doing to make a call, send an email, or a card to those in our lives to let them know we are thinking about them, and remember, we are still connected.
As case managers, we know the power of connection—it’s at the heart of what we do for patients and families, and it’s just as vital in sustaining our own professional and personal bonds. So as we move through this holiday season, remember that the simplest gestures, whether a call, a note, or a kind word, can strengthen bonds and remind us of what truly matters. The holidays are not just about celebration, but about connection, and those moments of reaching out are the gifts that last well beyond the season.
Thank you for the work YOU do every day, and for the ways we support one another.
I will be off next week, enjoying the holidays with my family, but before I leave, I wanted to send you and your families a note that this season brings you strength, joy, and the comfort of community.
