Tucker, GA (WorkersCompensation.com) -- Police investigated shootings of delivery drivers, Amazon workers and mortgage officers this week in separate incidents.

In Tucker, Ga., outside of Atlanta, DeKalb County Police said they are investigating a shooting incident involving an Amazon delivery driver. According to reports, police were called to the 4600 block of Hugh Howell Road around 5:15 a.m. on Oct. 24 for reports of a shooting. Blaine Clark, DeKalb County Police public information officer said officers arrived to find a driver who said he’d been fired upon while attempting to deliver packages.

Officials said the driver was shaken but not hurt. Amazon officials released a statement expressing their gratitude he was not “physically harmed.”

“Safety is our top priority, and no one is expected to make a delivery to an Amazon customer if conditions aren’t safe to do so,” the company said in a statement. “We appreciate the fast response of local law enforcement, and we’ll work with them as their investigation continues.”

Officials blamed the incident on an uptick in gun incidents in the city.

“The increasing and cavalier use of deadly weapons, especially in this area of frequent citizen complaints of audible gun shots, is very disturbing,” Roger Orlando county council member for Tucker, District 1, told Rough Draft News. “Based on prior observations, I am confident that our police will investigate this incident fully and increase patrols in the area to provide greater visibility and, hopefully, deterrence.”

In Pasco, Wash., drama between co-workers turned into a shooting at a truck stop, officials said.

Police in Pasco said they were called to the King City Truck Stop in Pasco around 7 a.m. on Oct. 22 for a report of an assault. Officers said when they arrived, they determined “drama” between several Amazon employee had escalated into violence, leaving one man dead.

Officials said Adrian Romero, 18, allegedly had planned to fight Gilbert M. Lopez, 21, that morning at the truck stop. Romero believed Lopez had insulted a friend of his. But Lopez came to the fist fight with a gun. Romero walked up to Lopez’s truck and opened the door. When he did, Lopez allegedly fired twice, striking Romero.

“Javier and Gilbert agreed to fight,” Officer Alexander Mino-Ramirez said in an affidavit. “Javier challenged Gilbert to a fight in the parking lot, and Gilbert told him to meet him at the gas station.” They agreed to fight during their lunch break. Lopez arrived first and parked at the gas station with a friend inside his truck and waited. Gun at the fistfight Lopez arrived at the truck stop first with his friend. They went inside and got lunch and waited for Romero near the gas pumps. Romero’s friend arrived in a separate car and spotted Lopez and called Romero to let him know. The two friends each saw Romero arrive and walk toward the truck. Lopez’s friend saw him holding the gun behind the door. When the door opened, Lopez allegedly fired twice. Romero dropped to the ground and Lopez drove to the Franklin County Courthouse where he called 911.”

Romero was taken to a nearby hospital where he later died from his injuries. His family started a GoFundMe account for funeral expenses.

Family members said he was a “cherished son, brother, nephew, grandson and friend.” The family is hoping the contributions for the funeral will help ease the burden of his loss.

“We want to give him the dignified and heartfelt send-off he deserves, but unfortunately, the financial burden of funeral expenses is overwhelming for our family during this already challenging time.”

Lopez appeared in court on Thursday and faces one count of second-degree murder for the shooting. He is being held in Frankling County jail in lieu of $1 million bond.

And in Stafford County, Va., a mortgage company employee was shot and killed while working on a property.

The Stafford County Sheriff’s Office said they were called to Mountain View Road for reports of gunfire. The call came from another worker at the same mortgage company who said the two were in the area for work. After he heard the gunshots, he said he could no longer reach their coworker.

When sheriff’s deputies arrived, they found an unresponsive man lying in the driveway of the property.

"Deputies established a perimeter due to not knowing where the shooter was located. Deputies noticed movement inside of the residence and began communicating with the subject," the sheriff's office said.

The victim, Michael Dodge II, 35, of Caroline County, was pronounced dead at the scene. He had been shot several times. The sheriff’s office said they were able to arrest the suspect, Donald Thomas, 64, of Stafford, after a brief standoff. Thomas faces charges of first-degree murder and unlawfully shooting or wounding in the commission of a felony. He is being held without bond at the Rappahannock Regional Jail under
