TN: Judge Seymour to Retire; Applicants Sought for Memphis Judgeship

Memphis Judge Deana Seymour has announced her retirement. She will step down on Sept. 1. Look for another article about her career accomplishments and contributions to the Court in the very near future.

In the meantime, the State of Tennessee and Bureau of Workers’ Compensation are requesting interested and qualified attorneys to apply for the position of Workers’ Compensation Judge in Memphis, Tennessee.  

The successful candidate will be appointed by the Bureau Administrator to complete Judge Seymour’s term, which expires June 30, 2026, and will be eligible to be appointed for two additional full terms. See Tenn. Code Ann. § 50-6-238(a)(1)(B). 

All interested applicants must complete a questionnaire. Send the completed questionnaire to Marie.Halpin@tn.gov on or before August 1, 2022, for consideration. 

Under section 50-6-238(a), workers’ Compensation Judges must have a valid, active Tennessee law license, be at least 30 years old, and have at least five years’ experience in Tennessee workers’ compensation matters.
