WorkCompCollege.com Launches First-of-Its-Kind Online Training for the New AMA Guides Sixth 2025 Edition

Comprehensive course developed by internationally recognized impairment expert Christopher R. Brigham, MD
LAKEWOOD RANCH, FL – October 13, 2026: WorkCompCollege.com today announced the official launch of its AMA Guides® to the Evaluation of Permanent Impairment, Sixth Edition 2025 Mastery Training Program, believed to be the first comprehensive, fully online, and self-paced training curriculum developed specifically for the American Medical Association’s most current version.
Available through AMAguides.com, the program was developed in partnership with Christopher R. Brigham, an internationally recognized authority on impairment and disability assessment who served as Senior Contributing Editor of the AMA Guides Sixth Edition and for nearly three decades as Editor of the Guides Newsletter. Dr. Brigham also developed the Fifth and Sixth 2008 Edition Mastery Training programs acquired by WorkCompCollege.com earlier this year.
Published digitally by the AMA rather than as a traditional printed textbook, the Sixth 2025 Guides incorporate evidence-based updates made since the original Sixth Edition was published in 2008. The AMA’s digital platform enables future revisions as medical evidence and clinical practice evolve. The Guides can be accessed at https://ama-guides.ama-assn.org/.
"A new edition is only as good as the people trained to use it well," said Mark Pew, Provost of WorkCompCollege.com. "We built this curriculum so professionals get both speed and rigor through Dr. Brigham's expertise in how the Guides work and Dr. Buttar's clinical oversight into how they should be taught."
The curriculum covers all 17 chapters and includes approximately 200 unique modules and over 20 hours of video content. The training program also includes comprehension quizzes, study guides, interactive learning resources, and vignettes to provide a rich learning experience.
“Knowing where to find a table or formula is not the same as understanding how to perform a high-quality impairment evaluation,” said Dr. Brigham. “This training program is designed to help professionals understand not only how to apply the Guides, but the principles and reasoning necessary to produce accurate, consistent, unbiased and defensible impairment assessments.”
The curriculum underwent extensive quality review led by Dr. Waqas Buttar, Medical Director of WorkCompCollege.com, with particular emphasis on clinical accuracy, usability and practical application.
“Impairment ratings can materially affect an individual's future and the resolution of a claim,” said Dr. Buttar. “Our QA process approached this curriculum with the same expectation we would apply to the evaluation itself: the methodology must be clinically sound, clearly communicated and reproducible.”
While the AMA Guides are deeply embedded in U.S. workers' compensation, their application extends internationally and across personal injury, motor vehicle, disability and other medicolegal systems. The new curriculum is available globally and on demand, allowing physicians, other qualified healthcare professionals, attorneys, claims professionals, and regulators to learn at their own pace.
