The Rising Insurance Star Executives (RISE) Leadership Summit recently convened in Fort Lauderdale, from June 16 to June 18, 2025. This dynamic gathering brought together emerging and established leaders in the insurance industry, providing extensive opportunities for professional development, strategic dialogue, and meaningful networking. The summit showcased comprehensive content, equipping participants with innovative insights and actionable strategies essential for future leadership roles. Attendees represented diverse insurance backgrounds, contributing varied perspectives and fostering an environment rich with innovative discussions and collaborative exchanges.

RISE was founded in 2017 by seasoned insurance industry professionals Amy Cooper and Katerina Garavito. Their vision was to create a platform dedicated to nurturing and guiding the next generation of industry leaders by bridging gaps between current executives and emerging talent. Through structured mentorship programs, targeted educational opportunities, extensive networking events, and valuable industry resources, RISE actively supports young insurance professionals in advancing their careers. The organization emphasizes the importance of professional growth and prepares members for significant leadership positions within the dynamic landscape of the insurance industry.

The 2025 leadership event opened with the highly impactful session, "Lift as You Lead," specifically geared towards empowering women entering the insurance industry. This engaging dialogue offered attendees practical strategies to effectively navigate and overcome industry-specific challenges, promoting leadership inclusivity and mentorship. Speakers highlighted personal experiences and shared concrete advice on creating a more supportive environment for female executives. Attendees left this session feeling inspired and better equipped to foster mentorship opportunities and strengthen leadership pathways within their own organizations.

An inspirational keynote from Simon Sinek’s organization highlighted the theme of "The Infinite Game," encouraging attendees to adopt a sustainable, long-term perspective on leadership and professional success. Complementary sessions, such as "Leading in the Age of Instant Gratification," reinforced this message by addressing contemporary challenges of maintaining strategic focus amid pressures for immediate outcomes. Participants expressed appreciation for these sessions, recognizing the value of patience and intentional planning in achieving lasting leadership effectiveness and organizational success.

Addressing mental health and wellness in leadership became a central theme at the summit, with dedicated discussions aimed at breaking stigmas surrounding mental health in the workplace. The session titled "Breaking the Stigma" featured open, authentic conversations emphasizing the critical importance of emotional resilience and proactive strategies for recognizing and preventing burnout. Speakers provided practical recommendations for fostering supportive workplace cultures, creating environments where employees and leaders alike feel encouraged to prioritize mental wellness. Participants applauded the vulnerability of speakers and the relevance of their advice to current professional environments.

In the session "Career Steps and Comebacks: Rising Stronger than Before," senior executives from the insurance industry candidly shared personal experiences of overcoming professional setbacks. Each speaker emphasized actionable insights designed to empower attendees to turn challenges into opportunities for growth and advancement. These narratives highlighted resilience as a crucial leadership skill, motivating participants to confidently approach career obstacles as catalysts for positive transformation.

Further enriching the summit experience, the interactive "Future Success Panel" facilitated dynamic exchanges between industry leaders and emerging professionals. Additionally, specialized sessions such as "Speed Mentoring," "Spilling the Tea on DEI," and "Innovating Your Career with AI" provided valuable insights on career progression, diversity, equity, inclusion, and technological advancement in the workplace. The LinkedIn Masterclass offered pragmatic strategies for enhancing professional visibility and networking capabilities, allowing participants to strategically advance their career objectives using modern digital platforms.

The summit’s third day featured an informative keynote address from the Florida Insurance Commission, providing attendees with critical regulatory insights and trends shaping the insurance sector. Subsequent breakout sessions were structured around two key tracks tailored to individual professional goals: management and personal development. Topics such as growth mindset, executive presence, and storytelling techniques were presented with depth and clarity, ensuring attendees could integrate these leadership fundamentals directly into their career trajectories.

Workshops dedicated to developing practical professional skills further enhanced the experience, addressing key competencies such as goal setting, executive communication, public speaking mastery, and conflict resolution. The workshop "Mentorship: Give and Receive to Maximize Growth" emphasized the reciprocal benefits of mentorship relationships, underscoring their significant role in career acceleration. Participants highlighted the workshop’s actionable advice, recognizing mentorship as a powerful tool for professional and personal development.

TED-style presentations offered concise yet impactful perspectives on critical leadership competencies including decision-making, emotional intelligence, and resilience under pressure. Sessions such as "From Peer to Manager," "The Playbook for Thriving in the Workplace," and "Thinking Fast and Deciding Smart" equipped attendees with practical strategies to enhance managerial effectiveness and navigate complex professional landscapes successfully. The compact format ensured information was accessible and immediately applicable for busy professionals.

The overall RISE Leadership Summit experience seamlessly integrated substantive content, extensive professional development opportunities, and insightful industry knowledge, solidifying its reputation as a pivotal event for cultivating emerging leaders in the insurance sector. Participants departed feeling motivated, inspired, and well-equipped with essential strategies to propel their professional journeys forward. The event dates for 2026 are confirmed for June 9-12, and to accommodate better accessibility, the summit will transition to April starting in 2027.
