OSHA office urges employers to address summertime hazards
A regional OSHA office is encouraging employers to develop programs and hold safety meetings to discuss hazards that peak during summer months. Hazards include electrocutions, falls, grain engulfment, struck-by, excavation, workplace violence and heat illness.
Safe + Sound Week starts Aug. 12
OSHA's annual Safe + Sound Week is meant to increase awareness of the value of safety and health programs that incorporate management leadership, worker participation, and hazard recognition and prevention. This year's campaign will take place Aug. 12-19. Employers can download a certificate to recognize participation after attending or hosting an event.

NSC presents drug impairment training
On Aug. 8, the NSC is presenting a webinar version of the Drug Impairment Training for Texas Employers (DITTE). Topics include the effects of alcohol and drugs on driving and other job tasks. Viewers that complete the four-session training will receive a certificate and flash drive of the curriculum.
NSC hosts journey management webinar
Journey management plans can help manage time and money. The NSC is hosting a free webinar on journey management programs for employers that will include tips for building and implementing a plan. The 30-minute webinar will take place on Aug. 7.
