OSHA announces newest top 10 list

The preliminary list of OSHA’s 10 most frequently cited standards for fiscal year 2022 has been announced. Fall Protection, General Requirements takes the first spot for the twelfth year in a row, while Hazard Communication and Powered Industrial Trucks both moved lower on the list.

OSHA updates severe violator program

OSHA has updated the criteria for its Severe Violator Enforcement Program, which the agency believes will allow for greater employer accountability. Although the criteria for program placement has expanded, OSHA will also allow employers’ to reduce time spent in the program or removal with abatement and safety program enhancement efforts.

Annual construction summit on October 4

The fifth annual Texas Construction Safety Summit will take place on October 4 in Austin, Texas. The event is hosted by the ASSP Central Texas Chapter Construction Group and the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA). In addition to general sessions, attendees will be able to choose from several breakout sessions, all involving best practices to address safety and health hazards.

Tips for dump truck safety

Between 2015 and 2020, there were 536 dump truck-related deaths and more than 7,000 injuries. The Texas Department of Insurance, Division of Workers’ Compensation shares tips for preventing incidents such as rollovers.
