Preliminary findings from the NSC indicate a one percent decrease in the first half of 2022 compared to the previous year. An NSC representative stated the results are hopeful but also show safety efforts are far from over.

DWC offers discounted general industry classes

DWC is offering discounted Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) 10-Hour General Industry classes in person and online. Classes are available in English and Spanish, and registration is $30. Participants will receive their OSHA outreach course card about two months after completing the class.

CDC loosens COVID-19 prevention guidelines

The CDC has relaxed its recommendations for COVID-19 prevention, including a shift of responsibility from organizations to individuals. Recommendations now state that most individuals who experience close contact exposure to the virus, but lack symptoms, should wear a high-quality mask and get tested in lieu of quarantining. Separate, stricter recommendations still apply to health care employees.

Study shows deadliest days and months for employees

A study found that fatal workplace injuries are more likely to occur on Thursdays and during the month of August. The report is based on 5,250 fatal injuries recorded with the Bureau of Labor Statistics. Men suffered over 92% of the recorded fatalities and most occurred in the construction, transportation and warehousing industries.
