OSHA will be working with the Department of Education, Federal Communications Commission, and the National Telecommunications and Information Administration to identify the needs of the telecommunications workforce. The group will focus on how to keep workers safe while supporting the growth of technology.

Webinar shares natural disaster emergency response tips

An OSHA training institute has created a free educational video on natural disaster emergency response as well as other safety and health exposures within the workplace. The video covers fires, hazardous atmospheres, electrical hazards, slips, trips and falls, and extreme temperatures.

Tips for hazard control in confined spaces

As Texas-based OSHA Region 6 launches a new program focused on tank cleaning hazards, the Texas Department of Insurance (TDI) is offering support through safety tips for working in confined spaces. TDI’s article covers energy sources, atmosphere testing, breathing apparatuses, attendants, rescue plans and authorization.

Anxiety and depression rise in construction industry

Data from the National Health Interview Survey showed that construction workers have experienced rising anxiety and depression levels during the COVID-19 pandemic. Between 2019 and 2020, 42.9% of respondents reported feeling more anxious or depressed. Prevalence was highest in ages 18-34, females and non-Hispanics.
