New DOL rule will allow agencies to improve collection efforts

A new rule will allow agencies to increase collection efforts for citation penalties and other debts. Agencies such as the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) will now be able to send second and subsequent letters to employers less than 30 days apart. Additionally, uncollected debt will be referred to the Department of Justice in a more timely manner.

DWC releases 2019 Texas fatal injury data

According to the 2019 fatal injuries report, 608 workers died in Texas last year. This is a 25% increase from 2018. The trade, transportation and utilities industry had the most fatal work injuries. Additionally, drivers, ground maintenance workers and construction laborers experienced the highest number of fatal injuries.
