Workers' Compensation Summit Meeting in New Orleans to Continue Conversation

New Orleans, LA (WorkersCompensation.com) – The Workers’ Compensation Summit, the group created around the concept of an ongoing “National Conversation” to improve workers’ compensation, will be holding their third meeting of the year in New Orleans, LA, in conjunction with the National Workers’ Compensation and Disability Conference (NWCDC). Scheduled for Tuesday, November 29, 2016 at the Ernest M. Morial Convention Center, the group is being hosted by the NWCDC.

The first meeting for the organization was a two-day event in Dallas, TX. That meeting produced a list of 29 issues noted by the group as needing further review and improvement. Of those 29, three were identified as “Priority Issues”, which were Benefit Adequacy, Regulatory Complexity and Delays in Treatment for Compensable Claims. The second meeting, held in August in Orlando, FL, delved more deeply into those three areas, as well as to start identifying what works well in various jurisdictions.

It was in Florida, where they were being hosted by the Workers’ Compensation Institute, where the group decided to continue with more meetings to try and identify and share ideas to further the improvement of the industry.

The meeting in New Orleans is expected to build on this work, and will also take significant time to review and discuss the recent Department of Labor Report on Workers’ Compensation.  The group represents a significant cross section of major stakeholders within the workers’ compensation industry.
