WCRI To Keynote Annual Indiana Workers' Comp Seminar

Cambridge, MA (WorkersCompensation.com) - Carol Telles, senior analyst at the Workers Compensation Research Institute (WCRI), will be the keynote speaker at the Indiana Workers' Compensation Institute (IWCI) and the Indiana Self-Insurers Association's (ISIA) 22nd Annual Workers Compensation Seminar in Indianapolis, August 7–8, 2013.

“It is an honor to be joining so many distinguished individuals at such an important forum,” said Ms. Telles. “I look forward to giving those in the audience a data-driven perspective of what is going on in Indiana's workers' compensation system with regards to trends, cost drivers, and important issues, like opioids.

Ms. Telles will present the Institute's findings on how the Indiana workers' compensation system compares with other states, based on WCRI's CompScope™ benchmarks. These benchmarking reports provide the most meaningful interstate comparisons currently available for more than 60 system performance measures across 16 large states.

She will also share findings from several other WCRI studies that include Indiana, focusing on hospital outpatient costs, prices for nonhospital services, and prescription use and costs, including longer-term use of opioids and physician-dispensing.

“We are pleased to have WCRI presenting at our 22nd Annual Workers Compensation Seminar,” said Dr. Gregory Hale, president of the IWCI's Indianapolis chapter. “With the new legislation that establishes a hospital fee schedule and increases income benefits beginning in 2014, we look forward to learning about WCRI's latest findings regarding medical costs and cost drivers, as well as income benefits.”
