Veteran Risk Management Leader Chris Mandel of Sedgwick Retires

Memphis, TN (WorkersCompensation.com) – Sedgwick, a leading global provider of technology-enabled risk, benefits and integrated business solutions, today announced that Chris Mandel, the company’s senior vice president of strategic solutions and founding director of the Sedgwick Institute, has elected to retire.
During his eight years at Sedgwick, Mandel focused on speaking engagements, writing and research activities that have supported the broader goals of the company as well as highlighted and contributed to solving industry problems. Mandel brought to Sedgwick more than 30 years of experience in the insurance and risk field, having served in various leadership roles at large companies. He also served as a Risk and insurance Management Society (RIMS) president and chief risk officer. Mandel is currently serving on several boards spanning the education, workers’ compensation and insurance sectors.
“It has been an honor working with Chris,” said Dave North, executive chairman of Sedgwick. “He is truly a pioneer in the insurance and global corporate risk management field and his presence and counsel will be greatly missed.”
Among Mandel’s most notable career achievements was being named Risk Manager of the Year by Business Insurance magazine and RIMS. He is a member of the Risk and Insurance Management Society Certified Risk Management Professional (RIMS-CRMP). He also holds Associate in Risk Management (ARM), Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter (CPCU) and Associate in Claims (AIC) designations. Additionally, Mandel received the RIMS Harry & Dorothy Goodell Award for Lifetime Achievement in Risk Management.
In his next career phase, Mandel plans to pursue greater involvement in his ministry interests while contributing to the insurance industry through select partnerships and collaborations.
