TX SBDC Offers Basic Workers’ Compensation For Medical Office Staff Seminar Offered In Amarillo On August 29

                               

Austin, TX (WorkersCompensation.com) - The West Texas A&M Small Business Development Center (SBDC) will sponsor an educational seminar for
medical office staff, including office managers and billing staff, entitled Basic Workers' Compensation for Medical Office Staff on Wednesday, August 29,
2012. The seminar is presented by the Texas Department of Insurance, Division of Workers' Compensation (TDI-DWC). The seminar will be held from 9 a.m.
to 4 p.m. at the Amarillo Club, 600 S. Tyler Street in Amarillo. The registration fee is $99 per person and includes lunch.

The educational seminar will provide medical office staff with practical information about rules and processes affecting health care delivery to injured
employees, enabling them to effectively participate in the Texas workers' compensation system. The educational seminar will provide information on the
following topics:

  • how workers' compensation works;
  • identifying a workers' compensation patient;
  • roles and responsibilities of health care providers;
  • establishing medical necessity through the use of treatment guidelines and preauthorization;
  • billing and reimbursement policies and fee guidelines;
  • medical documentation;
  • TDI-DWC required forms; and dispute resolution.


The TDI-DWC will provide six (6) general insurance continuing education credits. Attendees must provide their insurance-related license number at the
seminar to receive credits.
