Texas' New Plain Language Notice

                               

Austin, TX (WorkersCompensation.com) - The Texas Department of Insurance, Department of Workers' Compensation (TDI-DWC) has adopted a new plain language notice, the PLN-12, Notice of Potential Entitlement to Workers' Compensation Death Benefits, for use in the workers' compensation system.

The purpose of the new PLN-12 is for insurance carriers to inform potential beneficiaries of their possible entitlement to workers' compensation death benefits due to the death of an injured employee. TDI-DWC rule, 28 Texas Administrative Code §132.17, requires insurance carriers to contact any known potential beneficiaries using a PLN developed by the TDI-DWC. The PLN-12 is intended for use under this rule.

The adopted plain language notice is effective February 1, 2013.
