Texas Mutual Selects TechHealth For Durable Medical Equipment

Dallas, TX (CompNewsNetwork) - Texas Mutual Insurance Company (TMI) announced today they have chosen TechHealth, Inc. as their referral management partner for DME and medical supplies. TechHealth will coordinate the selection, delivery, and set-up of DME for TMI workers' compensation claimants.

TechHealth's DME services include electrotherapy, orthotics, and prosthetics, as well as respiratory and IV therapy.  Using a formulary model similar to that of a pharmaceutical program, TechHealth's DME benefits management program automatically substitutes lower priced, but therapeutically equivalent, generic products in place of higher priced brand name products whenever possible.  The brand item is only dispensed when no generic is available, the prescribing physician specifies the brand, or the adjuster authorizes the brand.  When a referral for a brand name item is received, TechHealth contacts the prescribing physician and requests authorization of the generic equivalent, unless the adjuster prefers otherwise.

In addition to the formulary, TechHealth also provides instant rental-to-purchase cost comparisons.  TechHealth will help TMI control costs by facilitating the most cost effective utilization of DME.

TMI and TechHealth developed electronic interfaces to streamline the workflow process for TMI referral sources.
