TDI: Four Companies Earn Safety Award

                               

Austin, TX (WorkersCompensation.com) - The Division of Workers’ Compensation (DWC) recognized four Texas companies for exemplary workplace safety programs and low rates of work-related injuries and illnesses by renewing their Lone Star Safety Program awards for a second time.

Frankston Packaging in northeast Texas manufactures and distributes folding cartons, flexible packaging, and rigid boxes. The company has 70 employees at its Frankston location. The company’s management team provides motivation, participation, and opportunities for employee input about their safety program. The company has excellent written safety procedures, such as laminated work instructions installed on machines to reinforce safe work practices. Employees actively participate in the company’s comprehensive personal protective equipment program. The company was first awarded the Lone Star Safety Award in January 2017. Frankston Packaging has also received a Safety and Health Achievement Recognition Program (SHARP) designation by the state and the federal Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA). The SHARP award recognizes small, private-sector Texas employers for exemplary safety and health programs.

Regal Machine Manufacturing is a pipe and pipe fitting manufacturer. The company has 65 employees at its Tyler facility. Regal Machine Manufacturing continues to display a strong safety culture. Management and employees are committed to maintaining policies and procedures that create a safe and healthy working environment. The company was previously awarded the Lone Star Safety Award in May 2015. Regal Machine Manufacturing company has also received the Safety and Health Achievement Recognition Program (SHARP) designation by the state and the federal Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA). They received their SHARP award in May 2018.

Southern Plastics, Inc. is a plastic manufacturing facility. The company has about 208 employees at its Kilgore location and is a long-term participant in the OSHCON program. The company was first awarded the Lone Star Safety Award in April 2015. Southern Plastics also received a Safety and Health Achievement Recognition Program (SHARP) designation by the state and the federal Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) in December 2018. Southern Plastics received this recognition for providing a strong safety culture that involves both management and employees; conducting comprehensive self-inspections, hazard anticipation, detection, and prevention; and establishing company-wide core values that promote safety, health performance, and responsibility.

Tyler Beverages, Inc. is a bottler and distributor of soft drinks and other beverages, and a packager and wholesaler of bagged and block ice. The company has 92 employees at its Tyler facility. The company was previously awarded the Lone Star Safety Award in December 2016. Managers and employees at Tyler Beverages continue to display a strong safety culture and commitment to maintaining policies and procedures that support a healthy working environment. Tyler Beverages has a strong safety culture that involves both management and employees in its refresher training curriculum, and its investigation process. Tyler Beverages has also received a Safety and Health Achievement Recognition Program (SHARP) designation by the state and the federal Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA). The SHARP award recognizes small, private-sector Texas employers for exemplary safety and health programs.
