SC WCC Approves Increase In Hearing Cost

                               Columbia, SC (CompNewsNetwork) - On August 16, 2010 the SC Workers' Compensation Commission approved an increase in the hearing cost assessment pursuant to Commission regulation R 67-614. This regulation authorizes the Commission to issue an order assessing the actual cost of a hearing as established by the Commission if the Commission determines that “…the hearing has been brought, prosecuted, or defended on unreasonable grounds.” The new assessment for cases docketed but hearings not conducted is $202.81. For cases docketed and hearings conducted the new hearing assessment is $1,014.86. The assessment costs were calculated using a cost allocation method of the actual expenses associated with hearings docketed and conducted during FY 2009-10.
