Reed Group® Offers Content And Tools To Support NY WC Guidelines

New York, NY (CompNewsNetwork) - Reed Group, Ltd., publisher of the industry's leading clinical case management and treatment guidelines, MDGuidelines, announced today its development and release of new content and tools that will help stakeholders navigate and comply with the recently announced New York State Workers' Compensation Board (WCB) medical treatment guidelines.

The New York WCB's new regulations require stakeholders to incorporate new state-specific medical treatment guidelines into their policies, procedures and practices. Carriers, self-insured employers, third party administrators, payers and other stakeholders all are required to incorporate the New York guidelines in their daily activities within 120 days of December 1, 2010 -- and to certify their on-going compliance thereafter.

“Reed Group shares the New York WCB's commitment to expediting claimant access to quality health care and improving outcomes,” says Jon Seymour, M.D., Reed Group's president, Guidelines. “It's clear that the key to successful state guidelines adoption is the availability of tools that allow easy and efficient navigation between guidelines language, treatment and procedures. MDGuidelines is uniquely designed to deliver that ease of navigation, and we're looking forward to helping stakeholders in the New York workers' compensation system achieve full compliance more easily.”

Reed Group's NY Guidelines solution is a suite of tools available through a standalone website or simple integration with existing software applications such as claims systems, case management software, or utilization review and physician management programs.

The suite of tools will include the core New York Guidelines, which presents specific, proprietary treatment material by ACOEM (American College of Occupational and Environmental Medicine), a tool to help align diagnosis and procedure codes more efficiently, and payment tables and other critical decision support and process efficiency tools. Additional MDGuidelines content will be available on an a la carte basis.

The Reed Group team will be providing extensive training in Guidelines tool use throughout the state in the near future.
