Nashville, TN (CompNewsNetwork) – Tennessee Department of Labor & Workforce Development Commissioner James Neeley announced that Progress Rail Services in Knoxville, Tenn. was chosen to receive the Governor's Award of Excellence for Workplace Safety.
"Progress Rail has demonstrated strong commitment to maintaining a safe and healthy workplace," said Jim Flanagan, Voluntary Protection Program Manager for the Tennessee Occupational Safety and Health Administration, who presented the Governor's Award of Excellence to the company today at the company's facility located at 201 West Quincy Avenue (Building 30) in Knoxville. "The evaluation criteria for this award are challenging, and this company has worked extremely hard to meet and exceed the standards the award requires."
The Governor's Safety Award honors Tennessee employers and employees who meet a required number of hours without workplace injuries serious enough to cause an employee to miss a day of work or restrict normal job activities. The number of hours required is based on the size of the company.
Progress Rail Services employs 20 people and is one of the largest providers of rail and transit products in North America. The facility has qualified for the Governor's Safety Award by working over 150,000 hours without a lost time or restricted duty injury. Their accident free record dates back to 2004.
