Portland, OR (CompNewsNetwork) - Pursuant to ORS 656.724(3)(b), the Workers' Compensation Board Chair is required to conduct an annual survey of all attorneys regularly participating in workers' compensation cases to rate anonymously WCB's Administrative Law Judges as to knowledge of workers' compensation law, judicial temperament, capability to handle hearings/mediations, diligence and efficiency, and effective communication. The Board Chair is further required to publish the results of the survey, listing each Administrative Law Judge by name.
Using the Oregon State Bar Workers' Compensation Section's general mailing list, WCB sent 272 questionnaires. A total of 17 questionnaires (for hearings and mediations) were returned in proper format to be considered, which is a response rate of 6.3%.
For hearings, 10 respondents (59%) reported that they represented insurers or employers, 5 respondents (29%) reported that they represented injured workers, and 2 respondents (12%) did not specify representation.
