Portland, OR (CompNewsNetwork) - The current recession has reduced state revenues, and has forced the Legislature to make deep cuts. Coping with these cuts includes closing the Department of Consumer and Business Services and most other state agencies on 10 Fridays that fall throughout the current two-year budget period.
The next closure day is Friday, June 18. DCBS workers will take a mandatory unpaid furlough day. However, like state police and others who provide essential public safety services, Oregon OSHA enforcement officers will be in the field to inspect workplaces in a wide range of industries. The enforcement staff will take their unpaid furloughs on alternative days.
Employees who want to file a complaint with Oregon OSHA on a closure day can still do so online at http://www.orosha.org/subjects/complaints.html; to report an imminent danger threat, they should call 800-452-0311.
