Ohio Employers Receive $895,000 in Workplace Safety Grants

Columbus, OH (WorkersCompensation.com) - Ohio Bureau of Workers' Compensation (BWC) Administrator/CEO Sarah Morrison has announced 34 employers will share more than $895,000 in grants to purchase equipment designed to substantially reduce or eliminate workplace injuries and illnesses.

"Safety grants not only help protect Ohio workers from injuries and illnesses, many employers report lower workers' comp costs and improved productivity," said Morrison. "I'm pleased so many Ohio employers recognize that a focus on safety now can prevent injuries and save money in the future."

The Safety Intervention Grants were approved in January. The recipient employers operate in 25 counties around the state, including:

• Clark County
• Clermont County
• Coshocton County
• Cuyahoga County
• Defiance County
• Erie County
• Franklin County
• Hamilton County
• Henry County
• Jackson County
• Knox County
• Lake County
• Logan County
• Lucas County
• Mahoning County
• Mercer County
• Montgomery County
• Paulding County
• Preble County
• Scioto County
• Stark County
• Summit County
• Trumbull County

The Safety Intervention Grant program provides employers with a 3-to-1 matching amount up to a maximum of $40,000. Quarterly data reports and follow-up case studies help BWC determine the effectiveness of employers- safety interventions and establish best practices for accident and injury prevention.
