Some $2.75 million in Susan Harwood Targeted Topic Training Grants is available from OSHA for fiscal year 2010. Applications are due August 6, 2010.
Targeted topic areas include crane safety, combustible dust, maritime, oil and gas, and eye safety. The training grants cover a 12-month performance period.
OSHA intends the grants to provide workers and employers with the tools needed to create targeted training programs to ensure safe workplaces.
“This is an excellent opportunity for employers insured with us to utilize grant money to augment the safety resources provided by NYSIF to enhance their workplace safety training programs,” NYSIF Chief Deputy Executive Director Francine James said.
NYSIF is a competitive insurance carrier that sells workers' compensation and disability benefits insurance to any employer doing business in New York State. In 2009, approximately 180,000 employers held NYSIF workers' compensation insurance policies (approximately 41% of the market). Approximately 61,400 employers had active NYSIF disability benefits policies.
