New Executive Director for the U.S. Congressional Office of Compliance

Washington, DC (WorkersCompensation.com) - The Board of Directors of the Office of Compliance (OOC) is pleased to announce the appointment of Susan T. Grundmann as Executive Director effective Jan. 9, 2017.
Ms. Grundmann will lead the independent and non-partisan office that administers the Congressional Accountability Act of 1995 (CAA) and applies thirteen federal workplace and public access laws to Congress and its agencies. The OOC operates with a staff of attorneys and professionals who help ensure a fair, safe, and accessible workplace for approximately 30,000 legislative branch employees working on Capitol Hill and in state district offices.
As Executive Director of the Office, Ms. Grundmann will administer its programs of education, outreach, and dispute resolution throughout the legislative branch. The OOC also administers programs regarding safety and health, labor relations, and disability public access.
Ms. Grundmann previously served as the Chairman of the U.S. Merit Systems Protection Board, an independent, quasi-judicial agency in the executive branch that serves as the guardian of Federal merit systems. She was confirmed to that position by the U.S. Senate in 2009.
“Susan Grundmann brings a tremendous amount of experience and professionalism to the OOC. We are so pleased that she will lead the Office in its many varied responsibilities to the legislative branch workforce and visitors to Capitol Hill.,” said OOC Board of Directors Chair Barbara L. Camens.
Ms. Grundmann has more than twenty years of prior professional experience in litigation and in advising clients in labor and employment matters. She began her legal career as a law clerk to the judges of the Nineteenth Judicial Circuit of Virginia.
Ms. Grundmann earned her undergraduate degree at American University and her law degree at Georgetown University Law Center.
She replaces Barbara Sapin who retired as Executive Director earlier this year.
