Montana ConocoPhillips Recognized For Excellence In Workplace Safety

                               

West Yellowstone, MT - The Montana Department of Labor and Industry presented ConocoPhillips Billings with the inaugural Governor's Cup Award for Excellence in Workplace Safety and Health at the annual Workman's Compensation Conference in West Yellowstone today.

"A safe workplace is a productive workplace. I am proud to acknowledge efforts to keep workers safe," said Governor Schweitzer.

Along with the Governor's Cup Award, the Governor's Awards for Safety and Health were presented. The winners of this year's awards are:

  • Large Public: Missoula County Public Schools, Missoula
  • Small Public: Ravalli County Road and Bridge Dept., Hamilton
  • Large Private: ConocoPhillips Billings Refinery, Billings
  • Small Private: Transbas Inc., Billings
  • Mine: Rio Tinto Minerals, Three Forks

The awards recognize employers in the public and private sector for making safety a fundamental part of the work culture. "I'm proud to recognize these employers for their efforts in keeping their employees safe," says Labor Commissioner Keith Kelly. "They know that by making safety part of their core values, they're doing everything they can to ensure their employees return to their families in one piece."

The winner of The Governor's Cup Award is chosen from one of the five categories. The winner of this award will hold the hand cut crystal cup for one year. At the end of the year, "The Cup" will pass to the new winner.

The winners of this year's awards were chosen out of nearly 100 nominations.
