MI Governor Announces Appointments To Worker's Compensation Board Of Magistrates

                               
Lansing, MI (CompNewsNetwork) - Governor Jennifer M. Granholm today announced the following appointments to the Worker's Compensation Board of Magistrates:

David M. Kurtz, Jr. of Bloomfield Hills, most recently an attorney with LeClair Ryan law firm, is appointed to represent lawyers for a term expiring January 26, 2013.  He succeeds Andrew Sloss who has resigned. 

Michael J. Mason of Rochester Hills, most recently a senior associate with MacArthur, MacArthur & Associates law firm, is appointed to represent lawyers for a term expiring January 26, 2013.  He succeeds John Rabaut who has resigned.  

The Worker's Compensation Board of Magistrates functions within the Department of Energy, Labor, and Economic Growth.  Magistrates are responsible for conducting hearings in disputes that arise under the Worker's Disability Compensation Act of 1969 and hear cases related to worker's compensation claims.

These appointments are subject to Section 6 of Article V of the Michigan State Constitution of 1963.  They stand confirmed unless disapproved by the Michigan Senate within 60 days.
