Augusta, ME (CompNewsNetwork) - Governor John E. Baldacci today announced the nomination of Sophia Leotsakos Wilson to the Workers' Compensation Board.
Wilson has served as the town manager of Brownville for more than eight years. Prior to that experience, she worked for more than four years as a community response coordinator for Womancare/Aegis Association. She has served as an Executive Committee Member of the Maine Municipal Association.
Wilson, a Dover-Foxcroft resident, earned an undergraduate degree and Master's degree from the University of Maine.
The mission of the Workers' Compensation Board is to serve the employees and employers of the State fairly and expeditiously by ensuring compliance with the workers' compensation laws, ensuring the prompt delivery of benefits legally due, promoting the prevention of disputes, utilizing dispute resolution to reduce litigation and facilitating labor-management cooperation.
The nomination must be reviewed by the Joint Committee on Labor and confirmed by the Senate.
