LSI Facility in Wichita Achieves ISO 14001 and OHSAS 18001 Environmental and Safety Certifications

MILPITAS, Calif., Feb. 3 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- LSI Corporation (NYSE: LSI) today announced that its facility in Wichita, Kan., has received International Organization for Standardization (ISO) 14001 and Occupational Health and Safety Assessment Series (OHSAS) 18001 certifications. The certifications underscore the company's commitment to a safe and healthy workplace, and to the preservation of the environment through the delivery of energy-efficient and environmentally friendly products.

"Environmentally friendly business practices and workplace safety are central to the LSI business model," said Ryan Livengood, manager of environmental health and safety for LSI's Wichita facility. "By leveraging our state-of-the-art environmental, health and safety (EH&S) programs in Wichita and across the US, LSI has established itself as a leader in the delivery of ‘green' products that optimize energy efficiency and minimize environmental impact."

ISO 14001 is a standard that establishes environmental management system requirements for organizations of all types and sizes. Similarly, OHSAS 18001 is a standard for implementing a safety management system. The standards include five major elements: Environmental Health & Safety Policy; Planning; Implementation and Operation; Checking and Corrective Action; and Management Review.

The dedication of LSI to continual improvements in EH&S performance is driven by the company's Safety and Environmental Management System (SEMS), which also is third-party ISO 14001/OHSAS 18001 certified. LSI supports sustainable EH&S practices by continually seeking new opportunities to improve workplace safety, reduce energy consumption, minimize waste and increase resource conservation. EH&S practices also support the company's strategy to produce "green" products that consume less energy and contain fewer environmentally hazardous substances.

LSI previously achieved ISO 14001 and OHSAS 18001 certifications at its facilities in Allentown, Pa. and Mendota Heights, Minn.
