LA Workers’ Compensation Medical Guidelines Seminar Announced For Baton Rouge

Baton Rouge, LA (CompNewsNetwork) - The Louisiana Workforce Commission's Office of Workers' Compensation will provide an introduction to the new Louisiana Workers' Compensation Medical Treatment Schedule, along with guidance on adhering to the schedule, at a seminar to be held in Baton Rouge on Aug. 19.

The seminar will be from 9 a.m. - noon at the Louisiana State Police Training Academy Auditorium, 7901 Independence Blvd., Baton Rouge.

The new Louisiana Workers' Compensation Medical Treatment Schedule went into effect on July 13, 2011, and represents a major change in the way decisions are made about medical treatment for injured workers.

The seminar will:

- Give attendees an overview of how the new schedule must be used in their offices when treating patients covered by workers' compensation insurance.

- Review the existing utilization review rules and address their application to the new treatment schedule.

- Review the process for requesting a variance when the treatment a provider would like to give a patient is outside the parameters of the treatment schedule.

- Provide an open forum for questions about the implementation of the guidelines.
