LA Court Rules Workers' Comp Judges Can't Decide Silent PPO Disputes

                               New Orleans, LA (CompNewsNetwork) - The Louisiana Supreme Court has reversed the decision of the court of appeal and held that the workers' compensation judge lacks subject matter jurisdiction to decide a third party demand for defense and indemnification filed by an employer and workers' compensation insurer against a Preferred Provider Organization (PPO), where the main demand alleges that a health care provider was underpaid reimbursement for medical bills in violation of the reimbursement schedule of the Workers' Compensation Act.
