Kids’ Chance of America to partner with the National Alliance for Children’s Grief to support students affected by workplace injuries

November 13, 2025 — Kids’ Chance of America (KCOA) today announced a new partnership with the National Alliance for Children’s Grief (NACG) to expand access to grief resources and local support locations for Kids’ Chance scholarship recipients — the children of workers who have been fatally or critically injured on the job.

Through this collaboration, KCOA scholarship recipients will be connected to NACG’s nationwide network of more than 1,700 grief support locations and a comprehensive online resource library, ensuring that every scholarship recipient is connected to grief support alongside their educational assistance.

KCOA’s national nonprofit network provides scholarships and educational support to children whose parent has been killed or critically injured in a workplace accident. The new partnership with NACG adds connection to support and resources for children grieving the death of a parent in addition to the educational and career support offered by KCOA.

“At Kids’ Chance of America, we know that financial support is just one part of helping our students achieve their dreams,” said Chris Letsos, CEO of Kids’ Chance of America. “These young people are incredibly resilient, but they carry deep emotional wounds. Partnering with the National Alliance for Children’s Grief allows us to connect students with specialized grief resources, ensuring they have the support they need to thrive — not just academically, but emotionally.”

The National Alliance for Children’s Grief is a nonprofit organization dedicated to raising awareness about the needs of children and teens grieving a death, while providing education and resources to those who support them.

“We’re grateful to partner with Kids’ Chance of America to ensure that young people grieving a parent’s death have access to the support they deserve,” said Deirdra Flavin, CEO of the National Alliance for Children’s Grief. “The death of a parent through a workplace injury is life-changing. When students are supported by caring people and dependable resources, it helps ease isolation and strengthens their ability to keep moving forward with school, relationships and daily life.”
