KEMI Hires Mark Bunning as Chief Financial Officer

                               

Lexington, KY (WorkersCompensation.com) - Kentucky Employers' Mutual Insurance (KEMI) has selected Mark Bunning to serve as chief financial officer. KEMI's board of directors approved the hire in a special meeting on April 22.

Bunning was previously the deputy secretary of the Finance and Administration Cabinet for the Commonwealth of Kentucky where he was appointed by Governor Matt Bevin in 2016. In that role, Bunning served as a senior member of the executive team responsible for multiple divisions of government, including the Department of Revenue, Facilities, Procurement, Controller, Office of Technology, Fleet, and Postal Services. Bunning also served as the permanent proxy for the Secretary of Finance on several boards including the Kentucky Higher Education Assistance Authority, Kentucky Infrastructure Authority, School Facilities Construction Commission, and Kentucky Employers' Mutual Insurance.

Prior to joining state government, Bunning held several senior financial and business management positions with both established companies and start-up technology firms such as Transposagen Biopharmaceuticals, Causely, and Exstream Software. "Mark brings a dynamic background of financial expertise to KEMI along with an ability to drive operational improvements," said Jon Stewart, KEMI president and CEO. "With his proven leadership track record, I believe Mark will be instrumental in helping guide our company forward."

A native of Ft. Thomas, Kentucky, Mr. Bunning obtained both his bachelor's degree and MBA from the University of Kentucky.
