Columbus, OH (WorkersCompensation.com) - Today Ohio Gov. John R. Kasich named Jillian E. Froment to serve as the director of the Ohio Department of Insurance.  Froment replaces Lt. Gov. Mary Taylor who is stepping down as director, effective today.  Taylor continues to serve as lieutenant governor.

“Mary has capably led the Department through some historic times and has been a source of steady, knowledgeable leadership.  I am grateful for her work and will continue to rely on her advice and counsel as lieutenant governor.  Jillian has worked closely with Mary since the beginning of the Administration and has a deep knowledge of the insurance industry and the Department and I am confident that she will be able to continue Mary’s record of steady, professional management,” said Kasich.

Froment has served as deputy director since 2011.  She has actively represented Ohio in the National Association of Insurance Commissioners, which establishes industry standards for all 50 states, and has served on the Cybersecurity Task Force, the Innovation and Technology Task Force and the Unclaimed Life Insurance Benefits Working Group. She is currently serving as the Treasurer of the Interstate Insurance Product Regulation Commission and was recently named by Columbus Business First as one of the “People to Know” in the insurance industry.  She earned a Juris Doctorate from Capital University and a Bachelor’s of Science in Engineering from The Ohio State University.
