Hoholulu, HI (WorkersCompensation.com) - On July 11, HEMIC held their Third Annual Charity Golf Tournament. This year, all proceeds went to benefit Kids’ Chance of Hawai`i, an organization dedicated to providing scholarships to Hawai`i children with a parent who has been catastrophically injured or killed on the job. Kids’ Chance helps these children fulfill their goals of education.
“We were pleased to raise over $40,000 – all of which will go directly to scholarships,“ said Milia Leong, Vice President of Claims and Medical Management. “As Hawai`i’s largest workers compensation insurance carrier, we know firsthand that when a catastrophic injury happens on the job, the lives of that worker’s family, especially their children, are profoundly changed. Kids’ Chance of Hawai`i can make a difference, giving these children the opportunity to achieve their goals for education and follow their dreams. Scholarships are not limited to college, but include programs that will help recipients achieve their professional aspirations, such as culinary or trade school.”
With over 30 sponsors, 158 golfers, and tents at every other hole with food, beverages, games and entertainment – including hula dancing, this was HEMIC’s largest charity golf tournament.
Mahalo to everyone who helped to make this tournament a success: our sponsors, our golfers, and our volunteers!
