Health Provider Notices Now Available As Printable Electronic Files

New York, NY (CompNewsNetwork) - Parties of interest in workers' compensation cases may download a printable electronic file for notices and other Board correspondence instead of receiving such notices by mail. This practice reduces Board costs (and corresponding employer assessments) and is more efficient for parties of interest.

Health Provider Notices

Effective August 1, 2010, the Board will allow the transmitting of printable files for health provider (HP) notices of decision in arbitration and administrative awards (Forms HP-2 and HP-2.1R).

Testing Period

Effective immediately, when new parties of interest or health providers agree to receive printable files, there will be a 90-day testing phase during which the recipient will also receive the same paper notices by mail. At the end of that period, the recipient will be asked to choose which notification format he/she prefers to use. If the recipient prefers to continue to receive printable files electronically, he/she will need to request and return a legal production agreement to no longer receive mailed paper notices.

Phase Out of Dual Formats

For parties of interest who have already been receiving electronic notices for longer than 90 days, the Board is phasing out the practice of transmitting notices both electronically and by mail. As of September 1, 2010, the Board will no longer send claim notices in both formats. Such parties must select the format they prefer by August 15, 2010. If they prefer to continue to receive printable files of claim notices electronically, they must request and return the legal production agreement indicating that they agree that they will no longer receive mailed paper notices. If, on the other hand, they prefer to receive mailed paper notices, NYSWCB will stop sending printable files of claim notices.
