Harleysville Names Young As Chief Claims Officer

Harleysville, PA (CompNewsNetwork) - Harleysville Insurance has named Jonathan Young senior vice president and chief claims officer. In this role, he will be responsible for all claims activities for the Harleysville organization, which includes oversight of the company's home office central claims unit and its four regional claims service centers. Young will report to Michael L. Browne, Harleysville's president and chief executive officer.

“Jonathan has extensive experience and a high level of expertise in the areas of commercial and financial services litigation, which I am confident will prove invaluable to him as he looks to continue to build upon the outstanding performance of our claims organization,” said Browne.

Before joining Harleysville, Young was the managing partner of the New York office of Sills Cummis & Gross P.C., and a member of the firm's litigation practice group. Prior to that, he was the managing partner of Reed Smith's New York office, and a member of the firm's executive committee. He began his law career as a clerk to the Honorable Caleb Wright in the U.S. District Court for the District of Delaware.

Young earned a bachelor's degree from the University of Virginia, and a juris doctor from the Georgetown University Law Center. He is a member of the New York Bar Association.
