Governor Schwarzenegger Announces Appointments

                               
Sacramento, CA (CompNewsNetwork) – Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger today announced the following appointments:

Greg Aghazarian, 44, of Stockton, has been appointed to the Worker's Compensation Appeals Board. From 2002 to 2008, he represented the 26th District in the California State Assembly. Prior to that, Aghazarian owned the Law Offices of Gregory G. Aghazarian from 1997 to 2002 and worked for the law Offices of David R. LeBeouf from 1993 to 1996. He earned a Juris Doctorate degree from University of the Pacific, McGeorge School of Law and a Bachelor of Science degree in business administration for the University of Southern California in 1986. This position requires Senate confirmation and the compensation is $128,109. Aghazarian is a Republican.

Daniel Curtin, 60, of Sacramento, has been appointed to the State Compensation Insurance Fund Board of Directors. He has worked for the California Conference of Carpenters where he has served as director since 2001 and previously served in the same position from 1992 to 1999. Curtin also worked as the legislative advocate from 1987 to 1992. From 1999 to 2001, Curtin was the chief deputy director for the Department of Industrial Relations. This position does not require Senate confirmation and the compensation is $50,000. Curtin is a Democrat.

Steven Rank, 50, of Roseville, has been appointed to the State Compensation Insurance Fund Board of Directors. Since 2004, he has worked as director of the western region for the Ironworker Management Progressive Action Cooperative Trust. Previously, Rank served as director of safety for the California Ironworkers Employers Council from 2002 to 2004 and director of safety and health for the National Erectors Association from 1998 to 2001 and Ben Hur Construction from 1998 to 1999. From 1990 to 1998, he was the national safety director for the Ironworking Contractors Insurance Program. This position does not require Senate confirmation and the compensation is $50,000. Rank is a Democrat.
