Austin, TX (CompNewsNetwork) - Gov. Rick Perry has reappointed Mike Geeslin as the State Insurance Commissioner for a term to expire Feb. 1, 2011. The commissioner oversees the Texas Department of Insurance (TDI), which regulates the insurance industry and provides information and assistance to insurance consumers.
Geeslin previously served as deputy commissioner for policy at TDI. Prior to TDI, he worked in policy roles in both the executive and legislative branches of government, including Perry's governor and lieutenant governor offices, and the offices of State Senator Florence Shapiro and the late State Senator Tom Haywood. He is a member of the Texas A&M Communication Alumni Advisory Board. Geeslin received a bachelor's degree from Texas A&M University.
