Gov. Paterson's Aide Joins NYSIF Executive Team

                               
New York, NY (CompNewsNetwork) - The Commissioners and Executive Director of the New York State Insurance Fund today announced the appointment of Deputy Secretary for Appointments Francine James to the position of Chief Deputy Director and Secretary to the Board of Commissioners for the New York State Insurance Fund (NYSIF).

NYSIF Board of Commissioners Chairman Robert H. Hurlbut said:  "We are delighted to welcome Ms. James to the leadership team at NYSIF. She will be a great addition, bringing a wealth of knowledge and experience that will make NYSIF an even stronger organization. My fellow commissioners and I look forward to working closely with her."

NYSIF Executive Director James J. Wrynn said: "NYSIF is very fortunate to have Francine join our team. She brings a unique combination of skills, including her knowledge of state issues, her legal expertise and her administrative experience, all of which will greatly assist NYSIF in achieving its mission. We look forward to welcoming her aboard."

Ms. James has served as Appointments Secretary to the Governor since January 1, 2007. During her tenure, Ms. James has played an integral role in assisting the Governor in making appointments to cabinet level, executive level and other state government positions, including appointments to over 600 boards and commissions. Before joining the Governor's staff, Ms. James served as Assistant First Deputy Attorney General in the New York State Attorney General's Office -- a 2,000 employee agency with 33 offices across New York State and a $220 million annual operating budget. There Ms. James handled a variety of managerial, policy and legal issues, and also oversaw the Legal Recruitment and Legal Training Bureaus of the office.

Prior to joining the Attorney General's Office, Ms. James worked for Manhattan District Attorney Robert Morgenthau. She held the position of an Assistant District Attorney for 11 years.

NYSIF is a non-profit agency of the state of New York that was created as part of the Workers' Compensation Law of 1914. By law, NYSIF is a competitive insurance carrier that sells workers' compensation and disability benefits insurance to any employer doing business in New York State. Approximately 185,000 employers hold NYSIF workers' compensation insurance policies, constituting about 37 percent of the market.
