Tallahassee, FL (CompNewsNetwork) - The Division of Insurance Fraud, Bureau of Workers' Compensation Fraud and the Division of Workers' Compensation, Bureau of Compliance issued a Joint Report summarizing their respective efforts and activities in combating workers' compensation fraud and employer non-compliance for the period of July 1, 2008 through June 30, 2009. Here are some highlights from the report:
- The overall number of referrals received by the BWCF decreased by 24% from 1,984 to 1,506 from Fiscal Year 2007/2008 to Fiscal Year 2008/2009 and the number of arrests decreased by 21 percent from 301 to 239 during that same period
- The DWC referred 91 employers to the Division of Insurance Fraud for possible criminal investigation
