Crawford® CEO Jeffrey T. Bowman Receives Georgia State University’s 2015 Icon Award

                               

Atlanta, GA (WorkersCompensation.com) - Crawford & Company® today announced that its President and CEO Jeffrey Bowman is the first recipient of the Risk Science and Insurance Leadership Icon Award presented by the Georgia State University Risk Management Foundation. Bowman received the award at a dinner held at the College Football Hall of Fame in Atlanta on May 14.  

 “I am grateful to be the inaugural honoree of Georgia State's Icon Award,” said Bowman. “An important aspect of working in any industry is to try in some way to advance the profession. Over the past decade Crawford has been at the forefront of establishing top training programs, developing leading technology, and helping to support academic and industry research. I believe this award is a gracious acknowledgment of the work we have accomplished.”     

The purpose of the Risk Science and Insurance Leadership Awards (The Riskies) is to recognize active or retired business executives with a significant relationship to the State of Georgia who:

1. Have demonstrated a career of high achievement and service to the insurance, risk management or related industry and  
2. Who exemplify the professional and business knowledge principles envisioned of the Risk Management and Insurance Department at Georgia State University.  

Bowman has worked in the insurance industry for some 30 years, qualified as a Fellow of the Chartered Certified Accountants in the United Kingdom in 1983, and in 1995 he moved from London to Crawford's headquarters in Atlanta. Since becoming Crawford's president and CEO in January 2008, he has overseen a number of transformative initiatives in the organization. As CEO, Bowman established a strategic agenda for Crawford, working with his worldwide management team to develop a global strategic plan and undertake enterprise risk management. That strategic agenda has included instituting matrix management across business units and development of a global technology roadmap to guide Crawford's increased investments in advanced technology.

The Georgia State University Risk Management Foundation (RMF) is a tax exempt, public foundation, which was organized to:

  •  Provide the business services community with a vehicle for raising funds to support RMI department programs 
  •  Assist in recruitment and retention of top faculty

  •  Promote and support important faculty research
