Coventry and Kids' Chance Partner to Create Referral Program

Downers Grove, IL. (June 17, 2019) – Coventry, a leading provider of care and cost management solutions for workers' compensation, has created a first of its kind Catastrophic Care Referral Program to benefit children affected by a parent’s work-related injury or death and to provide the ability to pursue their education without financial burden.
The program will refer affected parties to Kids’ Chance, a provider of educational opportunities and scholarships for the children of workers seriously injured or killed on the job. Coventry’s Catastrophic Case Management program, which provides nursing support for workers managing catastrophic injuries, is perfectly positioned to support the Kids’ Chance cause by helping to identify potential candidates for their scholarship program.

The program, which launched in April, provides a monthly report that flags eligible cases where the injured worker is gravely injured or killed in the course of a work-related accident. The Coventry Case Manager is prompted to contact the adjuster, the injured worker, or a responsible family member to refer them to Kids’ Chance. Coventry has already identified over 320 referrals and hopes to expand beyond Case Management in the future to identify additional candidates through our DMEplus® (medical equipment and ancillary services) and First Script® (pharmacy benefit management) lines of business.

“Coventry has been a huge supporter of Kids’ Chance and the individual Kids’ Chance state chapters for many years,” said Tammy Bradly, Vice President of clinical product development for Coventry. “Pairing our Field and Telephonic Case Management Teams with them to identifying children that could benefit from scholarships makes perfect sense. Our nurses are highly engaged with these individuals and many times have direct relationships with both the injured workers and their families.”

Coventry is proud to support the Kids’ Chance mission of envisioning a time when all children affected by a parent’s work-related injury or death can pursue their educational dreams without financial burden. Over the years Kids’ Chance has awarded more than 6,500 scholarships, totaling over $20,000,000. Through referral programs, such as Coventry’s, we believe they can change the lives of even more.

If you are aware of a child who may qualify, even if their college-age years are down the road, please contact Kids’ Chance to find out more.
