Concurrent Technologies Corporation Receives OSHA VPP STAR Award for Workplace Safety and Health Excellence

JOHNSTOWN, Pa., Feb. 20 /PRNewswire/ -- Concurrent Technologies Corporation (CTC) has been awarded the Federal Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) Voluntary Protection Programs (VPP) "VPP STAR" designation for workplace safety and health excellence for the Company's Johnstown facilities. CTC now is one of approximately 2,000 STAR sites across the country.

STAR status is the highest VPP designation awarded by OSHA and indicates a facility has achieved injury and illness rates below its industry national average, and demonstrated to OSHA that its safety and health management systems are exemplary. STAR participants commit to a process of continuous safety improvements that will lead to an even safer work environment.

Edward Selker, OSHA's Deputy Regional Administrator, presented the VPP STAR flag to CTC President & Chief Executive Officer Edward J. Sheehan, Jr. at a celebration ceremony attended by employees and distinguished guests. The 24-member “Tiger Team” that was formed to establish and coordinate VPP implementation activities was recognized for their outstanding efforts.

"Driven by our employees, the CTC Johnstown facilities have implemented on-site safety activities and procedures to systematically identify and eliminate potential hazards before they affect employees, contractors, and visitors," said Sheehan. "We also feel our employees take the safety culture to their homes and apply it in their work efforts at client sites."

Sheehan also noted, "VPP is consistent with CTC's objective to be a services and technology leader in sustainability, environment, and safety. We are very proud and fortunate, for example, to support the Department of Defense and defense agencies' initiatives to implement VPP STAR across their facilities. DoD and the Federal Government overall are very committed to safety. We saw obtaining VPP STAR status ourselves as critically essential to further strengthening our core skills and services as well as demonstrating our commitment in this area to our clients and stakeholders."
