CHSWC Releases 2018 Annual Report on California’s Health and Safety and Workers' Compensation Systems

Oakland, CA (WorkersCompensation.com) - The Commission on Health and Safety and Workers' Compensation (CHSWC) has released its twenty-fourth Annual Report for 2018. The 2018 Annual Report presents information about the health and safety and workers’ compensation systems in California and makes recommendations to improve their operations.

The Annual Report summarizes the state of all the relevant areas of the workers’ compensation and health and safety systems. The 2018 Annual Report also highlights recent legislation and regulations which make changes to the workers’ compensation and health and safety systems. The statutorily required report covers how the costs and benefits of both systems are analyzed, and lays out numerical and graphical trends over time. Administrative performance measures demonstrate the high volume of activity in the California systems and provide insight into the complexity of delivering benefits to injured workers. The Special Reports section discusses recent research conducted by CHSWC that examines topics of interest to Commissioners and system stakeholders.

CHSWC is charged with examining the health and safety and workers' compensation systems in California and recommending administrative or legislative modifications to improve their operation. The Commission was established to conduct a continuing examination of the workers' compensation system and of the state's activities to prevent industrial injuries and occupational illnesses and to examine those programs in other states.

Information about CHSWC and the 2018 Annual Report is available on the CHSWC website, www.dir.ca.gov/chswc.
