CHSWC Approves Report On Liens

Oakland, CA (CompNewsNetwork) - The Commission on Health and Safety and Workers' Compensation (CHSWC) is pleased to announce that  the Commission's “Liens Report” has been approved for release.

Liens are both a cause and a result of serious distress in the California workers' compensation system.  The volume of liens forces the courts to encourage settlement, but settlements reward both the unjustified claims and the unjustified denials that give rise to so many liens.  The “Liens Report” analyzes the lien problem in California so that policymakers can target proposed solutions and quantify the problem so that the effects of such proposals can be estimated.

CHSWC is charged with examining the health and safety and workers' compensation systems in California and recommending administrative or legislative modifications to improve their operation. The Commission was established to conduct a continuing examination of the workers' compensation system and of the state's activities to prevent industrial injuries and occupational illnesses and to examine those programs in other states.
