California WCIRB Launches Workers’ Comp Coverage Inquiry Website

San Francisco, CA (WorkersCompensation.com) - On March 1, 2012, the WCIRB launched the Workers' Compensation Coverage Inquiry website (Website). The purpose of the Website, accessible by visiting www.caworkcompcoverage.com, is to assist in identifying the name of an insurance company that wrote a California workers' compensation insurance policy for a specific policyholder on a specific day within the last 5 years. It was established pursuant to California Insurance Code Section 11752.75 and California Code of Regulations Title 10 Section 2593 et seq.

The information available via the Website is extracted from data reported to the WCIRB pursuant to the California Workers' Compensation Uniform Statistical Reporting Plan – 1995 (PDF). Only privately insured coverage information is shown. (Information about self-insured employers should be directed to the California Office of Self-Insurance Plans. See www.dir.ca.gov/sip.)

Website Features:

  • The Website is free and available to anyone with a web browser.
  • Users can search for coverage information by Federal Employer Identification Number (FEIN) or company name. Up to 5 years of coverage information is available.
  • The Website includes a link directly to the insurer search page on the California Department of Insurance website making it easy to locate insurer contact information

Users should read all disclaimers and notifications on the Website before using the information for any purpose, and all information should be verified with the policyholder or insurer. Also, users should be aware that search results are not evidence or verification of workers' compensation insurance coverage and the lack of search results do not indicate that a policyholder is illegally uninsured.
