California DWC Releases Public Comments From Forums On Current WC Issues

Oakland, CA (WorkersCompensation.com) - The Department of Industrial Relations (DIR) and the Division of Workers' Compensation (DWC) have posted public comments on its website that were submitted during the recent workers' compensation public forums held throughout the state.

DIR Director Christine Baker and DWC Administrative Director Rosa Moran hosted the nine forums during April to solicit discussion on current issues in the workers' compensation system and gather information from stakeholders and members of the public on suggestions for improvements. The forums were held in West Sacramento, Los Angeles, Orange County (Garden Grove), Fresno, San Bernardino, San Diego (La Mesa) and Oakland.

“Part of the mission of DIR is to talk to stakeholders, and the forums offered a great opportunity to hear all sides,” said Christine Baker. “This will help us going forward as we work together on the workers' compensation issues facing California employers and employees.”

“The comments we received at the forums were thoughtful and considered, and gave us valuable feedback on the steps needed to improve the workers' compensation system,” said Rosa Moran. “Anybody who is interested in the issues will also find the submitted comments insightful.”

Among the topics discussed at the forums were medical treatment, compensation for permanent disabilities, liens, fee schedules and cost of litigation.

Verbal testimony was welcomed at each forum, although speakers were limited to three minutes. Written testimony and email correspondence, which were not limited, were also accepted.
