California DWC Adopts Public Disability Accommodation Regulations

Oakland, CA (WorkersCompensation.com) - The Division of Workers' Compensation (DWC) has adopted regulations on public disability accommodations, which were approved by the Office of Administrative Law (OAL) and filed with the secretary of state on Jan. 19, 2012. These regulations will become effective on Feb. 18, 2012.
The regulations provide guidance to the public on the division's disability accommodations process, which is intended to provide individuals with disabilities equal access to the division's activities, programs and services.
The regulations include the following:
- The process to request an accommodation if you have a disability
- The reasonable disability accommodations that may be available
- The decision-making process for determining a reasonable disability accommodation
- The procedure to appeal a decision on an accommodation request
